Laser Cataract Surgery

Ophthalmic surgery, by its nature, requires the utmost precision. Thanks to new advancements in technology, laser cataract surgery now offers a more precise and pleasant option for patients.

While traditional cataract removal is done by hand, ICON Eyecare is proud to be one of the innovative practices leading the way by offering our patients the option of laser-assisted cataract surgery using the Catalys platform. It is a precise way to perform cataract surgery, and it is designed to increase patient comfort and reduce procedure time. This approach is part of our continued commitment to provide the most precise results to help our patients get back to quality of life.

  • Catalys Precision Laser Cataract Surgery

The Catalys combines a femtosecond laser (like the laser used in blade-free LASIK Surgery), real-time three-dimensional imaging, and sophisticated software that make the procedure highly customized, gentler, and significantly more precise than manual surgery. The laser’s precision also allows the surgeon to correct astigmatism during cataract surgery.

In blade-free laser cataract surgery, your doctor uses a laser to enter the eye and break up the cataract for removal. Laser technology enables precision performance while minimizing the use of ultrasound to break up the cataract. This modern approach decreases eye irritation and inflammation, which are common side effects of traditional cataract procedures.

  • Premium LifeStyle Lens Options

After the clouded natural lens of the eye is removed in laser-assisted cataract surgery, it is replaced with an intraocular lens (IOL), also called a LifeStyle lens. You can choose your LifeStyle lens based on your individual vision needs. Standard LifeStyle lenses, also called single-focus IOLs, correct near or distance vision, while monovision LifeStyle lenses correct distance in one eye and near vision in the other.

Multifocal LifeStyle lenses correct for both, eliminating the need for glasses, while toric LifeStyle lenses are specifically made to correct astigmatism. The trained eye care providers at ICON Eyecare will help you choose an intraocular lens that fits your lifestyle.
