  • Your Free LASIK Consultation

A LASIK consultation is required prior to eye surgery to determine candidacy. This initial appointment is a full eye exam using advanced diagnostic tools in addition to dilation. Some of the factors that go into determining candidacy for LASIK surgery are prescription, age, corneal shape and thickness, pupil size, dry eye testing, and Wavefront analysis. We prefer to work closely with your current optometrist for continuity of care. Ask your eye doctor to refer you to ICON Eyecare for your LASIK vision correction procedure.

While not all patients may qualify for LASIK, there are many other vision correction options to explore. Your ICON Eyecare doctor will work with you to select the best treatment option and answer any questions you might have about LASIK or other surgical eye procedures.

  • LASIK Surgery Procedure

Bladeless LASIK surgery is an option that appeals to many people to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Performed as an outpatient procedure that doesn’t require heavy anesthesia, LASIK eye surgery is quick and comfortable with a short recovery period.

During LASIK surgery, a laser is used to create a thin flap in the outer layer of the cornea. With the underlying corneal tissue exposed through the flap, the treatment is performed to reshape the cornea using a laser light. The flap is then repositioned and the procedure is complete.

  • LASIK Surgery Recovery

Recovery from a LASIK procedure is typically pain-free and patients often see improvements in their eyesight almost immediately. After LASIK, patients generally see clearly at all distances. Several follow-up appointments are required after your LASIK procedure but in many cases patients are able to drive themselves to post-operative appointments.

To ensure proper healing after LASIK, it’s recommended that patients sleep for at least five hours directly following the surgery and refrain from vigorous activities for two weeks.
