How Much Does Clear Lens Exchange Cost?
LASIK surgery is an excellent vision correction option for many people, but it’s not right for everyone. For patients who suffer from dry eye syndrome, have thin corneas, or are beginning to experience age-related conditions like presbyopia, clear lens exchange (CLE) surgery may offer a more appropriate, permanent solution.
What Is Clear Lens Exchange Surgery?
CLE, also known as refractive lens exchange (RLE), is a safe and effective surgery during which the eye’s natural lens is replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL) to correct refractive errors like nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. It’s similar to cataract surgery, except the lens is replaced before cataracts form — and patients will never need to worry about future cataract development. Most patients will never have a need for corrective lenses or reading glasses, either.
What Is the Cost of CLE Surgery?
CLE surgery generally costs approximately double that of LASIK and can range, on average, between $3,000 and $8,000 per eye. The cost largely depends on the region, the provider, and the type of IOL that’s used. At ICON Eyecare, we’re proud to offer a range of premium IOLs to fit your budget, lifestyle, and vision needs. Our experienced team will discuss the specific surgery costs, lens options, and any necessary pre- or post-operative care during your consultation.
Making CLE Affordable for You
CLE is an elective procedure, so it’s typically not covered by insurance. But at ICON Eyecare, we believe every patient should have the opportunity for great vision. We’re proud to offer financing options through our preferred lenders, CareCredit and Alphaeon. These options offer deferred interest for up to 24 months and flexible payment plans spread over 60 months for those who qualify. We also accept payments made from health savings accounts (HSAs) and flexible spending accounts (FSAs).
